Description
Privet can be grown as a small formal hedge or a large hedge. It is evergreen/semi-evergreen (can lose its foliage when transplanted in Winter) and can provide excellent shelter and privacy. The denseness provided by the small ovate leaves makes for a good hedge that some small birds use for a nesting site. It has a good growth rate of 40-60cm per year dependent on conditions reaching a maximum of 4m tall. To keep it neat we would recommend trimming it twice per year.
